Tata Motors looks to import electric Jaguars and Land Rovers under low-duty regime Tata Motors plans to import its Jaguar Land Rover luxury electric cars under a new government policy that lowers import taxes for companies agreeing to manufacture locally, the Hindu Businessline reported. Tesla is also expected to start bringing its cars to India, but Tata%u2019s plan would make it the first local carmaker to take advantage of the policy designed to increase use of electric vehicles. Why it%u2019s important: Tata had initially lobbied the government not to lower the import duty for imported electric cars. It now wants to take advantage of the eased duty structure as demand for electric mobility increases in India.
