This is an impartial personal assessment about elections without any personal bias.....Religious polarisation proved double edged and minority votes are consolidated for opposition..Secondly,some large segments of society feel threated by the slogan( abki baar 400 paar) and any threats on account of constitutional changes...Both together can change the equations drastically.....There are other reasons too....NM was the USP of the ruling party..The brand itself is severely hit on account of EB,ED,CBI,court judgements man dont relish words like corruption, black money etc, they feel that they are being the absence of any major/ sensitive issue, employment, farmers agonies, inflation etc takes the front seat..

Mahabali, my apologies for writing on an apparently out of context in a stock thread though it is not as the outcomes of election has a profound bearing on stock market too…at least temporarily. Could not resist adding my two cents to your views. The basic issues of unemployment, inflation, education, health for the bottom 60 percent of the pyramid who are highly impacted with the K shaped recovery, farmers unrest etc are in the back burner. There is hardly any differentiated approach between the modus operandi deployed for catching votes by the different parties which is a holier than thou promise of distributing goods. The dissonance between a nationalist and federal state of Governance is on trial. Noted journalist Shekhar Gupta of Indian Express fame and a few others have put some deep insight. While nobody disputes present dispensation forming the Government, the critical analysis says that 270 of 303 seats in 2019 was garnered from 12 states with a vote percentage of around 52-53 percent which will be difficult to improve because beyond a threshold it is very difficult and takes humongous effort to improve further. If there is dip there then making up from the rest of the states ..mainly south …may be difficult.
